I am living with severe, constant pain, including referred pain in my knee and additional strain in my heel caused by the way I now have to move. My mobility has reduced to the point where I rely on a walking stick and still struggle to get around.
I was previously a very active person, but I am now becoming increasingly immobile. This decline has been extremely difficult to cope with, both physically and emotionally. The constant pain and loss of independence are leaving me feeling anxious and low, and I am worried about how much worse things may become.
I had originally been classified as an urgent case and was given a date for surgery. However, this had to be postponed due to a temporary illness that required treatment. After completing treatment and following the advised recovery period, I expected the process to move forward again.
Instead, further delays were introduced when trying to reschedule. A new pre-operative appointment was set several weeks later, extending my wait to around 97 weeks. I was then informed that due to limited availability, the surgery itself may not take place for several more months.
This ongoing uncertainty and delay are extremely distressing. I am concerned that my condition will continue to worsen, increasing my risk of falls and further loss of mobility. I fear that I may require more support or even become dependent on mobility aids if this continues.
There has also been a financial impact. I have already lost money due to cancelling planned activities and may face further losses because of the continued uncertainty around scheduling.
Overall, the prolonged waiting time is affecting every aspect of my life—my physical health, my mental wellbeing, my independence, and my financial stability.
